Flying Renaud Productions
David Renaud is a former medical doctor and a Producer on the Humanitas Award-winning and Golden Globe nominated ABC series The Good Doctor. He has also written on the CBS medical drama Pure Genius (created by Jason Katims) and the ABC primetime soap Blood & Oil. He was born and raised in Canada and holds both an MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA and an MD from the University of British Columbia. At the age of 19, David was in a near fatal car accident that left him paralyzed. He is currently developing a medical drama for ABC with Sony Pictures, Josh Berman and Seth Gordon that is loosely based on his own life. David is committed to challenging preconceptions about people with disabilities and was recognized for his work on The Good Doctor by the Media Access Awards in 2019 (Visionary Award) and by Variety in 2018 (2018 Inclusion Impact Report). He is also committed to expanding opportunities for disabled artists in the industry and has served as a Faculty Advisor to the Respectability Summer Lab for Entertainment Professionals with Disabilities (2019, 2020, 2021). He is a proud father of two, an aspiring musician, and a passable cook.

Architecture for the Blind
Chris Downey, AIA has over 32 years of experience in architecture – continuing without sight since 2008. He now specializes in projects focusing on users that are blind and Low Vision including eye institutes, rehabilitation centers, and schools for the blind along with other relevant projects. His current work includes a new Vision and Rehabilitation Hospital for UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA, new eye institutes for Waterloo University in Canada and Wake Forest University in North Carolina and a new building for the Washington State School for the Blind in Vancouver, WA. Other relevant projects include the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco, the National Industries for the Blind in Alexandria, VA and the Sustainability Pavilion for the 2020 World Expo in Dubai, UAE. In all cases, Chris consults with project architects, project teams, user groups and clients on the design of multi-sensory user experiences of users that are blind or low vision. That said, his approach endeavors to express and embrace the broader interests and principles of Universal Design embedding a philosophy of user experience design that is inclusive of the vast spectrum of the human condition. Whatever the project, Chris endeavors to instill a sense of delight for all whether it is seen or not.
Chris has been featured in numerous media stories including “60 Minutes”, speaks internationally regarding disability, inclusion and design, has taught Universal Design for the Department of Architecture at UC Berkeley while his TED Talk, “Design with the Blind in Mind”, has been viewed well over a million times. He has served on the California commission on disability Access since 2013 and as its chair effective January 2021. He is also the immediate past Chair of the board of directors for San Francisco’s Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired on which he has served since 2010.
Chris and his wife of 27 years are empty nesters living in Piedmont, CA where he is a competitive rower on a crew team on the Oakland Estuary, sings in his church choir and is an avid cyclist – now on a tandem.
