ABOUT THIS TOOLKIT

Since HRBPs are a vital component to the Company’s disability diversity initiatives, we are committed to helping you understand HR functional areas where you can help us create a culture, policies, and processes that encourage disability inclusion, engagement, and compliance.

This Toolkit provides HRBPs with basic guidance on disability considerations that impact the Company’s overall accessibility and diversity recruiting strategy. The goal is to build confidence in a way that helps HRBPs make better-informed decisions about candidates and employees with disabilities while also mitigating the company’s risk of disability discrimination. This Toolkit should be viewed as a “living document” and may change over time as the need arises.

The Toolkit includes four sections:

Section 1: A Practical Legal Framework – a discussion of various disability laws relevant to HR management.

Section 2: Business Benefits of Disability Diversity and Inclusion – a discussion about why disability law compliance efforts and inclusion initiatives are important to the continued success of the organization.

Section 3: Interacting with People with Disabilities – strategies for effective interaction during common HR related activities with a focused discussion of specific types of disabilities.

Section 4: Global Best Practices for Compliance and Inclusion – an in-depth conversation about the legal requirements related to core HR functions including recruitment, selection, and onboarding, accommodations management, performance management and compensation, employee engagement and communication, health and safety, benefits management, and learning and professional development and practical strategies for compliance.

The Appendix offers self-guided activities that reinforce understanding of new knowledge found in the Toolkit.
