Ibis
9:30 am – 11:00 am Follow

Do you find your BRG tends to follow the practices of other BRG’s or vice-versa?  Is your group proactive or reactive to external issues, actions or interests?  As leaders of a group whose issues are often very personal, do you tend to follow your head or your heart?  Do you follow a strict set of protocols, a business plan or does the group operate in a more unstructured way? These questions are just a Springboard to a deeper dive into this particular issue.  As a result, challenges may emerge that as a group we will frame into a How Might We question in order to discover innovative solutions.

Ibis
11:00 am – 11:15 am BREAK
11:15 am – 12:45 pm Influence

Can the word influence be found in your group’s mission and/or vision statement?  Why/Why not?  If so, who do you aim to influence and how?  What effect does this have on you as a leader, your constituency, the BRG or even the company?  What is the difference between influence and action?

NETWORKING LUNCHEON Ibis
1:45 pm – 3:15 pm Lead

What is  your definition of leadership, specifically as the leader of a Disability BRG?  What is your leadership style?  Have you found it to be effective and why?  How would you answer these same questions about your Executive Sponsor?  What is the difference between influencing and leading?

3:30 pm – 5:00 pm Learn

As the leader of a BRG, how do you learn the skills and in many cases, the knowledge required to be successful in this role?  How do you teach others who are in the BRG’s leadership pipeline?  Is helping others learn about disability issues part of your groups mission?  If so, how do you ensure you do so in a way that positively impacts the organization? If not, whose role is it?
