Simple, Successful and Practical Applications
for meeting the #OFCCP’s new #Rules
When it comes to learning about the new OFCCP Rules impacting #Section #503 of the #Rehabilitation #Act, specifically to improve job opportunities for individuals with disabilities, there are webinars galore; each focused on making sure you understand every legal component. And while the legal implications of these Rules are important, it’s the #practical #applications of these Rules and specifically, the applications that are relevant to your company and corporate culture, that are critical.
For example, the Invitation to #Self-Identify requires contractors invite applicants to self-identify as #IWDs at both the pre-offer and post-offer phases of the application process, using language prescribed by OFCCP. The #Final #Rule also requires that contractors invite their employees to self-identify as IWDs every five years, using the prescribed language. Unfortunately, this rule does not address the real issue at hand which is that most candidates and employees don’t know how to disclose, meaning what to say, when, to whom, etc. which increases their lack of comfort in disclosing. This is why, as a result of focus groups with employees with disabilities, Springboard developed and currently offers an electronic employee disclosure guidance tool which addresses the issues that are at the heart of disability disclosure and provides real-time, relevant guidance for the employee, their manager and the company.
Another example is the nationwide 7% Utilization Goal for qualified IWD’s. Hiring people with disabilities is one thing, hiring people with disabilities who meet your company’s education and skill-set requirements, is another. It is for this reason that Springboard offers a #College #Liaison #Program which established customized on-going relationships and programming with #Disability #Student #Services offices, their Directors and staff’s, at leading colleges and universities across the country.
These are just two examples of how #Springboard works with company leaders to ensure OFFCP and other disability related compliance in a practical, relevant and successful way.
