Australia Launches National Disability Insurance Scheme

The #National #Disability #Insurance #scheme launched last week. Lauded as the vehicle for bringing consumer choice to disability services, today's launch is the first in a phased introduction that is set to take the next six years to fully implement - with Western #Australia not yet signed up to participate in the $19.3 billion program. It is expected that 400,000 Australians will have access to the scheme, excluding those who are over 65 years of age or do not have a significant and permanent disability. It is predicted that today's launch will reach just 26,000 people.
