Thirty-nine #APAC countries have adopted a landmark strategy for building #disability-inclusive societies for the approximately 650 million people with #disabilities living in the region.
The #IncheonStrategy, “Make the Right Real for Persons with Disabilities in #Asia and the Pacific” was endorsed at the conclusion of the Intergovernmental Final Review meeting of the Implementation of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons, 2003-2012 convened by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea in Incheon last week.
This Strategy includes priority goals, targets and measurable indicators to guide regional and national implementation of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013-2022.
While this does not focus on the employment of #PwD, it does meet a huge need in APAC in the overarching goal to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
