In his presentation at the Diversity MBA Regional Benchmarking Session last Friday, Jorge Quezada, Dir of Inclusive Diversity at Allstate (also the event’s Host) said that “Fit” and “Focus” go together. Meaning, unless someone feels they are a fit with a particular organization or company, it will be difficult for them to truly focus on the job at hand. No sooner did I hear this do I hear a story about a woman who was just fired from her job days after her boss noticed that she wore an emergency bracelet indicating that she had epilepsy. When she was told that the company had concerns for her safety she responded by saying, I’m obviously not the right fit for this company. What do you think?
