Gulf War-era II Veterans

With many of Springboard’s clients beginning to take an interest in recruiting veterans including those with service related disabilities, I thought my readers would be interested in the March 12th report released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics which stated that the unemployment rate for veterans who served in the military since September 2001 – a group of about 1.9 million, referred to as Gulf War-era II veterans – was 10.2 percent in 2009. About 21 percent (413,000) of these Gulf War-era II veterans reported having a service-connected disability and nearly 1 in 3 of employed disabled veterans worked in federal, state or local government, compared with 21 percent of non-disabled veterans and 14 percent of nonveterans.

For those interested in recruiting this segment of the population, the pool of candidates is ready, willing and able.
