UK Disability History Month (DHM)

Attention everyone who lives and works in the UK. The first UK Disability History Month (DHM) will take place from November 22nd to December 22nd, 2010 and annually thereafter. This is most exciting news.

Similar to the U.S. celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, DHM will be an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of people with disabilities in the workplace, create an understanding of the barriers these individuals experience in the workplace and society and impact change relative to the attitudes and practices of disability equality. Please contact Springboard to learn about innovative ways your company can celebrate this momentous month.

DHM is based on the ‘Social model’ of disability, recognizing that it’s the barriers of the environment, organization and attitude that hurts people with disabilities and their families the most.
