Could that person be me?

When we think of people with disabilities, especially in the workplace, we so often assume these individuals were born with their disability. Part of that thinking lulls us into a belief that “this” could never happen to “me”, but according to the National Safety Council’s injury facts report, in the U.S., someone becomes disabled every 49 minutes. Startling? Yes. A fact that should cause us to re-consider how we think about disability, especially as it relates to the workforce? Yes. Just think, if you were to have a car accident tomorrow that left you physically disabled such that you now needed to use a wheelchair and had reduced use of your primary hand, would you want to suddenly be thought of as not being able to do your job?

Just something to consider…
