Australia launches Disability Employment Initiative

Australia has launched a $3 Million Disability Employment Initiative. Mark Arbib, the Minister for Employment Participation recently announced Round 3 of the Rudd Government’s Innovation Fund which will include $3 million for social enterprises focused on job seekers who have a disability. To ensure success, the Rudd Government is investing in training and employment services and eliminating waiting lists by uncapping services. As we all know, being employed delivers a lot more than just financial independence. It gives a sense of contributing to the community and provides a social network which is so often missing for adults with disabilities. Stay tuned!
