Are you attending this year’s SHRM Diversity & Inclusion Conference in New Orleans? If so, please plan on arriving in time to attend the Sneak Preview screening of MONICA & DAVID on Sunday, October 10th from 6-8pm. The film was Winner, Best Documentary, at the Tribeca Film Festival, and will be broadcasting nationally on October 14th on HBO. I, along with the film’s Director and Producer, Alexandra Codina, will be at this very special event and will facilitate a post-screening discussion.
MONICA & DAVID is the love story of two adults with Down syndrome. While the film explores the intimate life of this charismatic couple, their desire for independence, and their family's struggle to let go, it serves as an ideal tool for helping employers and employees connect on a personal, human level with adults with intellectual disabilities.
Inspired by the Best Buddies International slogan "I see you", we will discuss seeing beyond disability to the individual's dreams and abilities and the realization of just how similar we all are. These topics will drive the film's national community engagement campaign, which will launch in October as part of the film's distribution on HBO. Ali & I will share plans for the film's national campaign as well as opportunities for you and your employer to use the film as a springboard for disability awareness, education and positive, impactful change.
When: Sunday, October 10, 6-8pm (70 minute film, with 50 minute discussion)
Where: SHRM Diversity & Inclusion Conference, Sheraton New Orleans
